Artist Statement
My work falls somewhere between painting and illustration. I am influenced by my surroundings and as an artist I enjoy transforming buildings and their settings to create quirky imaginative fun compositions that generate a dynamic flow to hold the viewer’s attention. My aim is to create paintings that evoke memories and personal connections for those who have an association with the locations or engage others through my arrangements and style. My work explores the buildings, structures and landmarks from Scotland, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Broughty Ferry, St Andrews, Monifieth, Carnoustie and Arbroath.
I was delighted to be chosen to contribute a penguin for "Maggies Penguin Parade" which ran throughout the summer of 2018 in Dundee, to raise funds for the Maggie' Centre. The video above shows the steps involved in its creation.
